TARPTAUTINĖ MINI TEKSTILĖS BIENALĖ
VILNIUS 2009
Lietuvos vardo paminėjimo tūkstantmečiui skirta Šeštoji tarptautinė tekstilės miniatiūrų bienalė „Šimtmečiai ir akimirkos“ – tęstinis projektas, įsiliejantis į Vilniaus – Europos kultūros sostinės renginius. Bienalė sukvietė Lietuvos ir užsienio menininkus apmąstyti svarbiausius istorijos įvykius ir pateikti savąją jų interpretaciją. Kadangi vienos šalies istorija nėra izoliuota nuo kitų kraštų, buvo kuriami darbai ne tik Lietuvos, bet ir užsienio šalių istorijos tematika, ypač susijusia su bendra Europos ir Lietuvos praeitimi.
Istorijos rašymas ir interpretavimas, kaip ir jos įvaizdinimas – subjektyvus procesas. Pirmieji Lietuvos istorijos tyrinėtojai ir vaizduotojai buvo svetimšaliai – lenkai, rusai, vokiečiai, neretai Lietuvos įvykius aprašę tendencingai. Todėl šių dienų kultūros tyrinėtojams ir menininkams tenka iš naujo peržiūrėti istorijos šaltinius, rekonstruoti Lietuvos istoriją, papildyti ją objektyvesne ar asmeniškesne interpretacija. Bienalės pavadinimas rodo, kad parodos dalyviai buvo skatinami savaip skaityti istoriją, pateikti asmeninę įvykių versiją, nevengiant šiuolaikinių interpretacijų, polemizuojant su stereotipais, perdėtu įvykių ar asmenybių sureikšminimu. Parodoje, kurioje dalyvauja gausus menininkų būrys ne tik iš Lietuvos, bet ir iš Latvijos, Estijos, Škotijos, Turkijos, Prancūzijos, Skandinavijos ir kitų šalių, egzistuoja ir tradicinis, ir postmodernistinis požiūris į istoriją.

The Sixth international textile miniature biennale “Centuries and Moments“ is the long-term project this year dedicated to commemoration of Millennium of the name of Lithuania and the part of “Vilnius – the cultural capital of Europe“ events. Biennale invited Lithuanian and foreign artists to reflect on the most important events of history and to present their own interpretations. As the history of one country is not isolated from the history of the other countries the works were based not only on the history of Lithuania, but also on the history of foreign countries and the common past of Europe and Lithuania.
Writing and interpretation of history as the creating its images is a subjective process. The first researchers of Lithuanian history were foreigners – Poles, Russians, Germans. They represented biased viewpoint on the events of Lithuania quiet often. Therefore present-day researchers of culture and artists should review historical sources and try to reconstruct Lithuanian history, to enrich it with more objective or personal interpretations. The title of the project “Centuries and Moments” shows that organizers of biennial encouraged the participants to read history in their own way, presenting personal version of events, not avoiding modern interpretations, arguing with stereotypes and the exaggeration of certain events or personalities. A good number of artists not only from Lithuania, but also from Latvia, Estonia, Scotland, Turkey, France, Scandinavian and other countries participate in the exhibition embracing both traditional and the post-modernistic point of view on history.
